I had a flyover Marbled Godwit this morning at Blackwater National
Wildlife Refuge (Dorchester County). I was at pool 3 near the beginning
of the wildlife loop when the bird flew over, providing good looks at
the overall structure, overall buffy-orange coloration, and cinnamon
underwing linings. The bird also vocalized. Unfortunately, it flew far
out over the water, so I'm not hopeful it can be relocated.

Other birds of note were my FOY Blue Grosbeak, FOY Seaside Sparrow (many
in the marshes several miles east of the loop), FOY Saltmarsh
Sharp-tailed Sparrows, FOY Black-throated Blue Warbler, a Summer
Tanager, a lone White Pelican, and a Caspian Tern. There were also good
numbers of the more common shorebirds in the impoundments (Short-billed
Dowitcher, both Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Plover, Semipalmated Sandpiper,
Least Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, breeding plumage Dunlin, Spotted
Sandpiper). The helpful leader of a Talbot County Bird Club group also
pointed out to me a Peregrine Falcon and a Bobwhite. (Sorry, I forgot
the leader's name -- he should feel free to e-mail me to remind me!).

Good birding!
