Finishing up a big day yesterday (5/13) at dusk at the Pickering Creek
entrance to Little Creek in DE, a Brit and I heard several Whippoorwills
calling. He showed me a neat trick they do with Nightjars in England. He pulled
out his white handkerchief (a respectable Englishman always carries a pen
knife and a handkerchief) and waved it around. Most goatsuckers have white
wing patches and are very curious. Immediately a whip zoomed past us in
the twilight and made several more passes.
