A Rock Pigeon landed on my balcony about 15 minutes ago, with a band
on his left foot.  It was red and had a number on it.  Could this be
someone's lost bird?  Is there another reason a pigeon would be
banded? I'm in Beltsville (Calverton). We have a pair of pigeons that
frequent our feeders, but this was the first time I had seen this one.
