This morning I met up with three crazy Annapolis birders, Dan Haas, Warren
Strobel, and Chris Murray, who left home at 2:30AM to arrive at Finzel Swamp
by sunrise. I just wanted to throw out some of the highlights. We hit a
number of places in both Garrett and Allegany counties including Finzel
Swamp, West Shale Rd, Frank Brenneman Rd, Big Run Rd, New Germany State
Park, Old Legislative Rd, Burning Mines Rd, North Branch C&O Canal, and
Spring Gap C&O Canal. Through our travels we recorded a FISH CROW on West
Shale Rd, 19 warbler species including the following:

Yellow Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Blackburnian Warbler
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER
Cerulean Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER
Northern Parula
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
KENTUCKY WARBLER
Hooded Warbler
Canada Warbler
Common Yellowthroat

Other highlights included a singing PURPLE FINCH at New Germany State Park;
one HENSLOW'S SPARROW & one VESPER SPARROW at Allegany grassland sites;
ALDER, LEAST, WILLOW, and ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS in Garrett Co., and nesting
CLIFF SWALLOWS at North Branch. It was quite the morning! Perhaps more will
follow later from Dan or Warren.

Good birding!

David
