This (Saturday, 6/6) morning I found an alternate plumaged FRANKLIN'S
GULL at the north end of the Hains Pt. Golf Course. The bird was
hanging out with the 75+/- RING-BILLED GULLS and visible from Buckeye
a/o Ohio Drs. (and not always visible from either). I first found the
bird at 7:05 am, and then left it there. About an hour later, Rob Hilton
& Lisa Shannon showed up and we were unable to relocate the bird. But
then Greg Butcher showed up and the bird reappeared shortly thereafter
(coincidence? I don't think so). This was between 8:15 & 8:30. We left
at about 9:00 am and the bird was still there.
Other birds of note at Hains Pt:
1 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON
1 GREAT EGRET
3 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS (at the tip)
1 BLACKPOLL WARBLER
Plus the usual breeders (WARBLING VIREO, both ORIOLES, EASTERN KINGBIRD
(nest building), COMMON YELLOWTHROAT).
Good birding
