For those of us trying for the bird this evening, exactly where was it
seen
last night?
Below are excellent directions which had been sent to me by Nico Sarbanes
after his successful Friday evening quest. Yesterday the suspect bird was
one of many cormorants in a sycamore on the left side of the island to the
right in a string of islands, as best as I can remember. Allow time for the
walk.

from Nico:
About 1/2 or 3/4 of a mile down the trail that goes south along the canal,
you will start to see cliffs on the opposite side of the canal (not the
river). Keep walking until you see the path curve to the left significantly.
Walk to the end of the curve, or close to the end of it, and look out into
the river, and you should see a couple of islands with elms, sycamores, and
most likely cormorants. The Neotropic Cormorant is noticeably brown, and
the smaller bill, feet, and overall size of the bird should be noted,
especially when in comparison to the dozens of Double-Crested that should be
there.
