About 5:30 pm the Roseate Spoonbill was flushed from DE by a Jet Ski. It flew a high and wide circle across Rt 54 and behind Harpoon Hanna's Restaurant. I would estimate that it was above Laurel Rd and Hurricane Rd in Ocean City. It then flew back to its starting point in DE less than 100 yards from the bridge on Rt 54. The bird flew again behind the Catch 54 Restaurant where I lost sight of it. About an hour later it was re-found by Ron Gutberlet, Frank of Delaware and one other guy.
The grasses didn't look as high as the bird was tall, but it was able to hide in them very well and then I would see its head pop up. Before it was flushed by the Jet Ski it would fly very short distances in the area where it was feeding making it easy to observe. It is so pink that it really stood out from the Great Egrets .
Ron and I joked that we may need to pay for the rental on a Jet Ski for the kids and get it back in Maryland.
Parking is not a problem. There is an auxilary lot for Catch 54 Restaurant less than a block away.

The spoonbill is still present and less than 100 yards from Rt 54.

HI all,
Traffic will be a problem as there will be a happy hour from 4 to 6 or 7 and there is few parking left right now but will be full starting around 4. The spoonbill was seen to the north across the marshes.
