The Dickcissels in the large field north of the White Marsh Cemetery
south of Easton continue to be heard and seen. They were first noticed on
June 3rd when I heard at least four of them and saw two. Since then, they
have been seen and heard with regularity, including today (Monday, June
22nd) when again I heard at least three, and saw one as it was singing.

The meadow where they have taken hold is listed in a conservation
reserve program which prohibits mowing until late in the fall, so these
birds have made a good choice. The patch is at least 60 acres, and the
owner, whom I spoke with today, is quite pleased to have it used by the
birds and enjoyed by local birders. I suspect there could be several active
nests, based on at least two separate sites where the birds seem to be doing
most of their singing.
