Hello all.

A few notable species have stuck around to breed in northern AA county this season.  The fields at Brandon Woods and the surrounding areas are managed to a lesser extent now and thus bird and butterfly diversity has increased.

Highlights:

Brandon Woods/Chestnut Hill Cove/Solley Road area (Pasadena):

Little Blue Heron: 2 adult, Brandon Woods Pond
Cattle Egret: 1 flyover
Osprey: 2
Red-tailed Hawk: 1 adult
American Kestrel: 1 resplendent adult hunting barn swallows
Least Tern: 40+ including several juveniles buzzing the nest site at Brandon Woods business park
Barn Swallow: 15+
Northern Rough-winged Swallow: 4
Common Yellowthroat: 3
Eastern Towhee: 3
Field Sparrow: 1
Grasshopper Sparrow: 2  
Chipping Sparrow: 5
Indigo Bunting: 4
Blue Grosbeak: 3
Eastern Meadowlark: 2 adults and at least 1 young bird, west of the ball fields at Brandon Woods
Orchard Oriole: 1  
American Goldfinch: 10+
House Finch: 8

Butterflies:

10 species including Northern and Southern Cloudywing, Zabulon Skipper and a total of 6 Common Wood Nymphs along the trim line by the ball fields
