Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from July 6, 2009
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of King Eider, Cattle Egret,
Black-bellied Plover, American Avocet, large numbers of DC Cormorants,
Mallards and Snowy Egrets. Lots of shorebird species including several
likely migrants were also present.
