Hi Everyone,

Matt Hafner and I have completed a 2009 version of "Maryland's Next Ten Bird Species," an article originally compiled by Marshall Iliff in 2001. After several months of data gathering, we polled a cross-section of Maryland's birders and processed votes for the most likely new species to be recorded in the state. The article outlines the Next 10 project, presents the ranked list of all 63 species that received votes, and provides an analysis of each species. I'm fighting to keep this short, as the document's introduction covers everything!

We hope you enjoy it!

(Note: We hope to move a copy to the MOS web site in the near future. In the mean time, if you lose the URL, there is now an "Assorted Documents" link on my home page to make it easier to find.)

Good birding!

Bill
