The highlight from my morning walk around Schoolhouse Pond today was an adult Black-crowned Night Heron on a log towards the rear of the pond among the usual Great Blue and Green Herons. Also present was a group of 3 or 4 Wood Thrush in a close group near the trail in the woods behind the pond. Also, I got eye level views of a Prothonatary Warbler. I've heard this bird occasionally over the last month, but haven't actually been able to spot it for probably six weeks or so. Other birds included a female Wood Duck with chicks, Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat, Red-eyed Vireo, White-eyed Vireo and lots of Barn Swallows.
