MD Osprey:

Put in six hours of booby watching (come on ... grow up!) at South
Beach on Assateague Island from 7 am to 1 pm today.

Arrived at the South Beach seawatch platform at 7 am this morning
(7/28). Was joined soon by Jared of Bethesda for a while; later by
Mike and Donna Welch of Frederick for a while; later by Jen Elmer of
Pocomoke, and then by Mike Walsh of Salisbury. Visibility very
limited early in the morning, but then it lifted/burned off somewhat,
but remained hazy - visibility was not unlimited. I think the close
parking lot filled up sometime between 10 and 11 am.

Fairly slow except for lots of Whimbrels (~35) moving south.

At 11:20 Jen picked up an intriguing candidate. I won't steal her
thunder. She was on for a long time; Mike Walsh had the second
longest view, and yours truly totally blew it ... by the time I
picked it up, I went to zoom-in on it and promptly lost it, somehow,
and then couldn't find it again. I think my look was about 3-5
seconds and all I could say was that it was a dark sulid, headed away
a fair distance.

The weather will be more unstable for the rest of the week, into the
weekend. Good luck!

Phil
