Loggerhead Shrike present today. A bird with a very wicked sense of humor.
While I was on top of the rock/dirt/gravel mound getting a blue grosbeak
3 other birders saw the Shrike. By the time I got down, it was gone.

I stayed another 2 hours. I had my scope out on the sidewalk. After some
time I decided to move in closer to the drainage pond. I scooped up my
scope and started walking in. Suddenly I noticed a bird. It was the Shrike,
sitting 20 feet in front of me perched on a Mullein and staring at me.

We stayed there looking at each other for about 5 minutes until he got
bored and flew away. This was around 5:45 pm

Two life birds: Loggerhead Shrike and Blue Grosbeak!

Thanks to all .
