Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from August 17, 2009
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of Clapper Rail, many Stilt
Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers in large numbers,Black Terns, Bank
Swallows, and the first Northern Mockingbird recorded on Poplar. A Seaside
Sparrow was also still out there.
