Bill Hubick and I got out of work early yesterday and spent the afternoon birding primarily Harford County with some Cecil County sprinkled in.

Havre de Grace Low tide was around 5:00pm, so that became the main object that our other birding acitivities revolved around. We started out at Tydings scanning the healthy numbers of terns and gulls for anything unusual, then went on to Perryville Community Park in Cecil, returned to Harford to bird Swan Harbor, made it back to Tydings for low tide, and finally ended the day birding the Susquehanna from Lapidum, hoping for a Common Nighthawk on the Cecil side to get Bill that much closer to getting a closeout.

Highlights at Tydings were a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (credit to Bill, and thanks to Matt for helping age this bird), 137 Forster's Terns, 9 Caspians; at Perryville, one Pied-billed Grebe, one LEAST TERN, three BLACK TERNS (one adult seen flying, spotted by Bill, then two juvies roosting with Forster's Terns a couple hundred yards out from the point of the park), seven migrating Eastern Kingbirds, 54 Bank Swallows; at Swan Harbor, one migrating Orchard Oriole, seen while perched on a corn stalk; at Lapidum, one very vocal EASTERN SCREECH-OWL heard as we were getting out of the car.
