The BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) device is a good solution for
some. I have almost no hearing in one ear from a childhood illness and
recently had sudden loss of hearing in the high frequencies in the other
ear. Johns Hopkins fitted me with the BAHA device in Jan. It allows me
to hear high frequency sounds, including bird songs. It didn't help me
identify them, but at least I can now hear them. And, the device and
surgery to implant it are covered by Medicare insurance.
