2 Nighthawks were visible from my backyard at 7:40 pm and 2 at 7:50 pm
tonight. At 8 I abandoned the yard to the mosquitoes and the catbird,
apparently upset by my presence. Three years ago I spent a few
evenings in early September looking for birds at Ayrlawn, the YMCA
property nearby. There were Nighthawks (not in large numbers) flying
in wide loops over the lawn. The Nighthawks tonight may have been
coming from or going to Ayrlawn: each of them was going in a different
direction and flying leasurely.
