Hello,

I am wondering if anyone else on the list has lost their squirrels in
the past few months? In the spring I had 12 gray and 5 black squirrels
raiding my feeder. Now I seem to have one gray squirrel who I think is
new to the yard as it ignores peanuts and doesn't get close to us. The
last time we lost our squirrels was when we had 10 to 12 crows living
nearby. They liked to feed the baby squirrels to their youngsters.
After the West Nile virus killed off the crows, we seldom see a crow in
the yard anymore. I live in East Silver Spring (Montg. Co, 20910). The
leader of our crow family died of West Nile Virus and was the 2nd bird
to test positive in our Zip Code region about 5 years ago.

We have had to bury two dead squirrels we found in the yard in the past
month. I was wondering if the horrendous crop of Asian tiger mosquitos
might be spreading West Nile Virus to the squirrels?
