My afternoon dogwalk got cut short when I noticed a couple Nighthawks
hawking swarming ants over our house. I spent the next half hour
photographing and enjoying at least 32 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS foraging high and
low, back and forth, feasting on massive swarms of ants along side Chimney
Swifts and European Starlings.
Inspired by the spectacle, I decided to check out the woods behind our
house. With the help of some Screech-Owl playback the trees became alive
with birds and I counted five AMERICAN REDSTARTS at the same time (one of
which was a very bright adult male), one MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and a
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER.

Good birding!
