My lunchtime walk around Schoolhouse Pond was highlighted by a bright first fall Chestnut-sided Warbler feeding low in the trees near the rear observation platform. Also present in this area were two American Redstarts, a number of Chickadees, a Red-eyed Vireo, and several unidentified warbler-sized birds high in the tree canopy. Also of interest was a fast moving flock of 14 flyover yellowlegs. I believe that they were Lesser Yellowlegs, but I never heard the birds vocalize. They were moving fast in a tight group heading towards the northwest (in the general direction of Western Branch and the landfill). A Traill's Flycatcher was perched on a prominent high snag along the rear of the pond, but this bird did not vocalize either.
