I had another good morning walk around Schoolhouse Pond. Each morning in recent days there has been a fairly active group of migrants working the willows near the rear of the pond, and today was no exception. Although nothing new for the fall turned up today, there was a great assortment of birds. A mixed flock in the willows included 2 1st fall Chestnut-sided Warblers, 1 Black and White Warblers, 3 American Redstarts, Red-eyed Vireos, 1 juv. White-eyed Vireo, Eastern Wood Pewee, Downy Woodpecker, Chickadee, and Titmice. Other warbler-sized birds were working the tops of the tree canopy as well, but the lighting was too poor for any decent looks.

Also present was a Veery in the woods along the backside of the pond. Unlike yesterday, the bird popped into the open twice and allowed decent views. And finally, along the boardwalk near where the side boardwalk goes up to the office condos, there was an Olive-sided Flycatcher. I saw the bird perch atop the highest snag of two different trees (getting good views of the head size and shape and "vest") before flying out of sight. Other birds of note included Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, 1 Black-crowned Night Heron, Wood Ducks, and flyover Laughing, Ring-billed and Herring Gulls.
