Hi Folks,

During my afternoon outing at Swan Creek in northern Anne Arundel Co. today
I had two AM. GOLDEN PLOVERs at the far side of the north dredge cell. I
saw one of them when I arrived around 3:20 p.m., and then as I was leaving
around 4:50 p.m. I saw that there were two together sitting on the dirt near
the edge of the water. This is the same time of year that Matt Grey and I
had a pair of these birds near the same location last year. Shorebirds were
few when I arrived shortly after 3 p.m., but were far more numerous near 5
p.m., and included Killdeer (3), Semi Plover (3), Spotted Sandpiper (3),
Greater Legs (1), Lesser Legs, (2), and Least Sandpiper (10). Other birds
of interest included Green-winged Teal (4) in the north cell, and an Am.
Kestrel and adult Bald Eagle both flying over the mitigated wetland. There
were still several Snowy Egrets and Little Blue Herons around, but
passerines were tough to come by.

A reminder for anyone wanting to visit in the afternoon: check in must be
made before 3:30 p.m., and then it is OK to stay till shortly after 5 p.m.
The workers usually lock the gates around 5:30. Visiting days are during
the week only (not holidays).
