The gentle rain this morning brought out the best of the birds. Although it
was not exactly a dawn chorus, standing in the rain and listening to the
different birds making themselves known was relaxing. Canada Geese honking
overhead ... resident Red-shouldered Hawk being very noisy ... Flickers ...
Red Bellied Woodpeckers ... Carolina Wrens ... Cardinals ... Chickadees ...
Blue Jays .... Crows ... Catbirds ... Tufted Titmice ... Downey Woodpeckers.
The slightly heavier rain (from a mist to discernible drops) seemed to bring
in a couple of mixed flocks of birds. I had a Magnolia Warbler, Pine
Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Red Eyed Vireo, Common Redstart, Black
Throated Green, plus at least a couple others that eluded my skills at
identifying fall Warblers.
Two Catbirds spent time chasing each other plus the Vireo and any others
that appeared to get into 'their' tree.
