I spent this morning, September 26, 2009, birding in Prince George's
County around Greenbelt and Lake Artemesia. I found quite a few
migrants, but surprisingly no thrushes. Highlights:

Sapsucker, Ruby-crowned Kinglet (3), PHILADELPHIA Vireo, BREWSTER's
Warbler, Tennessee Warbler (2), Nashville Warbler, Parula (14), Yellow
Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler (2), Magnolia Warbler (4), CAPE-MAY
Warbler (a very drab individual), Black-throated Green Warbler, Pine
Warbler (4, one still singing in Greenbelt Park), Black-and-white
Warbler (10), Restart (12), Yellowthroat (4), Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Scarlet Tanager.

Others have been reporting Black-throated Blue Warblers this fall. I
have not seen any despite having recorded about 200 individual warblers
of 21 species so far. Admittedly, this is not that many observations
but it does seem a bit odd since I think of Black-throated Blue as one
of the more common fall migrants. Are others seeing a relative lack of
this species or have I been looking at the wrong branches or the right
branches at the wrong time?
