WHAT:
The Anne Arundel Bird Club's Monthly Meeting at the Arlington Echo
Environmental Education Center.

WHEN:
This Friday, October 2, 2009 at 8 PM.

THE SUBJECT:
HART-MILLER ISLAND: THE WONDROUS BIRDS, INSECTS, AND HISTORY OF THIS
UNIQUE ISLAND IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY.

WHO:
Gene Scarpulla, Baltimore City’s Watershed Manager, and Expert on the
Birds and Insects of Hart-Miller Island.

Gene will present the fascinating story of Hart-Miller Island and the
many species of birds, bees, and butterflies currently there. Located
in the Chesapeake Bay, 6.5 miles east of Baltimore and accessible only
by boat, the island was originally two separate islands. Currently it
is divided into two sections: Hart-Miller. Many of you have walked
many tens of miles around this island. Most anyone who has paid a
visit to Hart-Miller probably has a story to tell about a fantastic
sighting while on the island. Gene knows this place like no one
else., and it should be a rather insightful presentation.

Unlike visiting the island, there is no need to bring sunscreen, bug
spray or bottles and bottles of water to Arlington Echo this Friday...
just make plans to attend. See you there!

Best,

Dan Haas
