Hi,

Geraldine and I spent the night at Carey Run on Saturday and then most
of the day Sunday birding in the eastern part of Garrett county. Some
highlights were:

Carey Run: Several nice mixed flocks with good numbers of warblers and
a couple Lincoln Sparrows
Finzel: Fairly slow, but one small flock with a Philadelphia Vireo
Piney Run: lots of exposed mud with a good mix of shorebirds including
a Pectoral Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper,
Semipalmated Sandpiper, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, and lots of Killdeers. It
would definitely be worthwhile to keep an eye on the reservoir while the
water level remains low.

We also stopped at Rocky Gap on the way home but aside from a Winter
Wren and a Black-throated Blue Warbler it was pretty slow.

Ebird reports follow.

Tom
