Today, in and around AA County:

-27 CATTLE EGRET hanging around a vernal pool this afternoon on the
East side of Rt 3, just North of St. Stephens Church Rd. (Gambrills /
Crofton area)
-An OSPREY and a ROYAL TERN over the Severn River this evening.
-A BLACKPOLL WARBLER in the neighborhood.
-In the yard, a first-ever sighting of a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET. I
know, I know... you're saying 'wow' to yourselves. My boy Declan, the
dog and I enjoyed it.
-Last but no least, a lone CHIMNEY SWIFT was hawking above in the
skies over West Annapolis this evening.

Every time I walk with my son around the yard, he says 'Hummingbird
Daddy'. He's got great eyes for an almost-two year old. Soon, I hope
he is spots one for his father. Today it was a goldfinch that he saw
flitting off of an old coneflower, but tomorrow... who knows? The
feeders are still up, and the Pineapple Sage is in full bloom, along
with several other late-blooming red flowers. My yard hummers should
be arriving any day now. ; )

Best,
