This is a reminder that the fall workdays for Irish Grove will be
held on the 7th and 8th of November. We will be doing mostly trail
work, and some work on the house, so all skill levels can be
useful. We have tools for most jobs, but if you have a special
talent to offer, such as skill with a chain saw, be sure to BYOT
(Bring your own tools).
In addition to lunches and dinners, on Sunday morning, we will again
be featuring Marylee's BIG breakfast. If you don't like hearty
breakfasts - eggs, scrapple, potatoes, etc, - you should probably
BYOG (BYO Granola).
We actually spend as much time birding as working and have had some
unusual birds over the years, including LECONTE'S SPARROW and YELLOW
RAIL. Bill Hubrick has recently pointed out the ease of finding
NELSON'S SPARROWS there, making it a good place to compare this
species to the resident SALTMARSH SPARROWS (BYO Field
Guide). While measuring for some work there recently, I had 5
SEDGE WRENS along Rail Trail, which is arguably the best place in the
state to find this species. If nothing else, it's a good place to
learn their distinctive call notes.
All are invited. If you are interested in participating, please
