   Later this afternoon I returned to Piney Run Park to view the upper end of the lake at White Rock Road. Combined totals of waterfowl: 

Canada Goose  600 

BRANT  1 im, seen by Bill Ellis near the docks a couple hours after I saw it earlier 

Gadwall  3, my first of the fall here, very late arriving 

Baldpate  2 

Black Duck  12 

Mallard  10 

Black Duck X Mallard hybrid  1 male 

Shoveler  1 female 

Green-winged Teal  1 female 

Ring-necked Duck  90 

Bufflehead  1 male 

Hooded Merganser  3 males, my first migrants here this fall 

Ruddy Duck  110 

Also 1 Catbird

   Midday at Piney Run Park had one surprise among the more common birds. Here is the list of the most interesting:

BRANT  1 im, hanging out near the boat docks, fourth county record 

Ring-necked Duck  4 

Bufflehead  1 male, my first of the season 

Ruddy Duck  48 

Pied-billed Grebe  5 

DC Cormorant  1 

Bald Eagle  2, adult and im
