Hi Folks!

On Sunday I started at Blackwater about 7:30. The Hudsonian Godwits (2)
were new for my Dorchester County List. At the same location was a immatrue
American Golden-Plover. From there I wandered east into Wicomico County.
Walked the Route 50 Borrow Pit [nothing of note] At Nanticoke River WMA on
Nutter's Neck Road I found 3 Vesper Sparrows. After that I checked the jetties
at Cedar Hill Park and Nanticoke [a few Royal Terns but no ducks], After
there I headed to E.A.Vaughn(North) in Worcester, but was disappointed to
discover that all of the formerly weedy fields had been mowed and th ere were
few sparrows to be found. To end the day, I decided to scan the Atlantic
at OC Inlet....this was the best choice I made all weekend:

Location: Ocean City Inlet
Observation date: 10/25/09
Notes: N5.Overcast.59F. all jaegers were immatures. One Royal Tern was
being harrassed by a Parasitic Jaeger and a Pomarine Jaeger at the same
time. A group of 3 Pomarines imms. were playing [short chases like young Bald
Eagles do].

Number of species: 14

dark-winged scoter sp. 120
Northern Gannet 32
Brown Pelican 3
Double-crested Cormorant 1
Great Cormorant 1
Ruddy Turnstone 23
Laughing Gull 350
Ring-billed Gull 100
Herring Gull (American) 100
Lesser Black-backed Gull 1
Great Black-backed Gull 20
Forster's Tern 3
Royal Tern 44
Pomarine Jaeger 4
Parasitic Jaeger 2

I camped out and started at dawn at Bayside, Assateague Island. The wind
was from the easy and there were few birds making the jump. The sole
highlight was a calling Hudsonian Godwit flying down the bayside. From Bayside I
headed to the Salisbury Landfill. Rather than drive into the landfill right
away, I decided to check the birds in the borrow pit just west of the
landfill. This was also a good choice because among the many Laughing Gulls was a
juvenile plumage LITTLE GULL! A few hours at the landfill yielded no
California Gull, but there was a 2nd winter Herring Gull with an almost white
rump and a solid dark tail.

Well, two days of rain are finally past....I wonder where I will head
tomorrow.

Good Birding!

Jim
