Yes I had the same experience on Wednesday afternoon. A large swarm was boiling up out of the ground right next to my shop door, crawling all over the siding and steps. It is on the south facing side, so was very warm when the tems rose in the afternoon. Also, lots and lots of Stink bugs, various assasin bugs and wheel bugs (all true bugs) are out and trying to come inside. Last night I saw a bat swooping by the side yard near the deck, about 8 PM!

Anyone else have swarms of flying Yellow ants in their yards now? I found a
olony of mostly winged, reproductive adults (brown with wings) and workers
smaller, pale yellow with no wings) in one spot in the yard. If you find this,
ustle them up a little and they give off a very strong, spot-on lemon smell.
retty cool.

Other than for my yard, I don't track early/late dates but it must be getting
orta late for Chimney Swift, yes? I had 3 foraging over the house near dusk.
s well as an imm. Cooper's hawk. And a lone monarch flapping methodically,
imed straight for Mexico.

There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot...like
inds and sunsets, wild things were taken for granted until progress began to do
way with them. Now we face the question whether a still higher 'standard of
iving' is worth its cost in things natural, wild, and free. For us of the
inority, the opportunity to see geese is more important than television, and
he chance to find a pasque-flower is a right as inalienable as free speech."
