While unsuccessfully attempting to find a White-rumped Sandpiper at Merkle today, I unexpectedly came upon an American Golden-Plover mixed in with the Killdeer (many), Dunlin (16), and Lesser Yellowlegs (2). I had taken the Critical Area Driving Tour shortly after it opened at 10am. All the shorebirds were in the last field on the left before exiting the tour. I believe this is the same field described by Jeff Shenot in his post on Saturday's birds, i.e. the first one if you're coming from the Merkle side.
