Talbot County Bird Clubs visits Wye Island Natural Resource Management area on 11 - 8 - 09

        Hi all .  17 Talbot County Bird Club members  visted the wilds of Wye Island Natural Resource Management area near Queenstown  in Queen Annes County   on  Sunday's  11 - 8 - 09   bird club Walk . Led by Danny Poet we  found  53 Species  for  our efforts .  Highlights were  Waterfowl, Raptors  and Sparrows  . After the Walk 14 of the birders went to Mr and Mrs   Erney Maher 's lovely  home For a  Great Brunch  and a tally of the mornings walk  alway a highlight  when  the club vists there .   Birds   Seen or heard  below  numbers are rough estimates

Canada Goose     many 
American  Black Duck    2
 Mallard     1    in pond at Hunters Oak Golf Course 
Bufflehead     1 First of the  season for all of us 
Ruddy Duck   200
 Bald Eagle    3 total   2 adult and 1 immature 
Northern Harrier  1
Sharp - shinned Hawk      1
Red- shouldered  Hawk    1
Red -Tailed Hawk  1
American Kestrel    1
 Merlin     1      first seen on ground then flew  to Osprey platform briefly before flying 
                      Off  . Had a  prey Item  looked to be a Blackbird Species

Forster's  Tern       2

Seen  or heard by only one  person in the group  so not on the offical  List but listed here for your interest 

Starling   1  very pale colored an  off color  white  compared to the rest of the flock
