I have received several requests for information on Tridelphia locations.

Nearly all of the Howard County birding sites are described in the online edition of Birding Howard County.

Directions to Howard County birding sites can be found at:

Pigtail: The scoters were not seen from this entrance but from the Montgomery County entrance at Greenbridge Rd.

PIGTAIL - ADC 4932-K5 (13-F5), Delorme 57-C4.
From the junction of MD 108 and 216, go north on Highland Road (the extension of MD 216) 3.2 miles to Triadelphia Mill Road. Turn left on Triadelphia Mill Road 1.6 miles to Green Bridge Road. At this junction turn left on a dirt road marked with a small sign for Pigtail Boat Launching Area. Continue 0.4 mile to where it dead ends in a small paved parking lot which is open from March through mid-December from sunrise to sunset, except during hunting season.

Tridelphia--Greenbridge is an exception since the entrance is in Montgomery County. Greenbridge Rd is off New Hampshire Ave in Montgomery County not far from Brighton Dam Rd. Do not confuse this with Green Bridge (two words) Rd in Howard County.

Go to the end of Greenbridge Rd and take the trail to the canoe cove. Walk left around the canoe cove, then up and down a hill along a dirt road. When you get to the water you will see the pipeline. The cove to your left is the mouth of Pigtail. This area will close for the season on 12/15.

CAUTION: There is hunting on Wednesday 11/25 at Tridelphia and the area will be closed.
