Hi all,
I just returned from Piney Run reservoir, where I saw a pair (male and female) of Surf Scoters, about 2/3 of the way across the lake from the boat docks. Also seen were the regular ducks (wigeon, ruddies, ring-neckeds, mallards, and buffleheads) along with at least a pair of Canvasbacks, and some Hooded Mergs too. Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, kingfishers and Great Blue Heron were also present, along with Canada Geese, Ring-billed Gulls and many A. Coots.

When I first arrived the female scoter was asleep, and I thought it might be White-winged, then when she awoke I was able to make a proper ID.

Joe Hanfman was there when I left so perhaps he will find something else of interest.
