Took my first ever trip to Piscataway Park this afternoon, soaking up the radiant sun, low wind and picture perfect conditions.  Found the EARED GREBE quite easily about 150 yards out along the boardwalk.  The bird was quite visible from about 3-4:30 PM at a distance of 100-150 yards, in excellent late afternoon light.  At one point it was swimming gently with a Horned Grebe, and the two were resting about 18 inches apart from each other, necks fully extended.  This had to be the best structural comparison of the two species I've ever had. Also several Red-headed Woodpeckers in the woods just beyond the grebe spot.
Good Birding,
