It's a pity this report isn't about the migration of a more exciting species, but it was mighty impressive nonetheless.
I was outside this morning just before sunrise in Lexington Park (St. Mary's County) and noticed zillions of American Robins streaming overhead. Given that the sunrise was on my right and the birds were coming from straight overhead in front of me, I assumed they had amassed overnight in/from the drenching rains and were all taking off with the early morning light, migrating south. It was like watching bats streaming from a cave and there must have been thousands of them (robins, not bats). The show lasted at least ten minutes and was non-stop birds. Great fun!
