This afternoon I made a quick pass through Perryville Community Park in
Cecil County. I saw about 10 Hooded Mergansers and four Ring-Necked Ducks in
Mill Creek, where the tide was way out. American Coots are starting to come
in-there was a raft of about 250 of them. One large adult Bald Eagle was
perched in a large tree on the point. The only land birds I saw were in a
mixed flock of Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, and Golden-crowned Kinglets. I
heard but didn't see a Belted Kingfisher.
On the way home I detoured to the North East Park to see if any wayward
ravens were hanging around. Saw only geese: Canadas, domestic, and two Snow
Geese, one of which was almost dragging its left wing but otherwise seemed
fine.
