MD Osprey:

The used book market is very mature and is highly automated. I buy 
lots of used birding field guides, references, European/Asian 
releases, etc. on the used book market.

I basically just use http://www.bookfinder.com/ as my search engine. 
It has a robust, easy-to-use search engine and crawls the web to 
locate all on-line sources for any given book.

For example, there are lots of copies of the Larsson and Olsen gull 
book available there.
