I have been enjoying a lovely day watching birds feeding on the deck with my visiting son.  To my great surprise, a house sparrow showed up, here on the edge of the woods, a mile from any farm, and even further from a store.
 
I have been keeping a yard list since we started to build this cabin in 1990, and this is the first house sparrow to show up.  It is species #154 for my yard list,   (The rufous hummingbird was #152, one year ago)
