Hi Folks!

After spendinga few hours digging out, Ed boyd and I did some birding between Chesapeake Beach, Calvert County and Herrington Harbor in southern Anne Arundel. In general, the roads were a mess and the ground had 2 feet of snow. Passerines were scarce. The best overall birding was at Herrington Harbor, with a Greater White-fronted Goose in with the Canadas. This is the second time that GWFG has been found at this location.

Location: Herrington Harbor
Observation date: 12/20/09
Notes: w/ Ed Boyd. Part of the Jug Bay CBC.
Number of species: 18

GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE (Greenland) 1
Canada Goose 500
Tundra Swan 30
Long-tailed Duck 122
Bufflehead 495
Common Goldeneye 76
Turkey Vulture 2
Bald Eagle 1
Killdeer 1
Ring-billed Gull 10

Other than that, the only highlight was a lone CHIPPING SPARROW by one of the flower boxes near the North Beach Post Office.

Good Birding!

Jim
