A Ross's Goose came to the waters of Leeds Creek in front of our
house on Christmas Eve, providing us with a new yard bird. Under the
pressure of hunting and snow-covered fields, around 7000 Canada Geese
converged onto the creek on Dec 24 in early afternoon. The Ross's was not
too hard to find in the group, since it was the only white one of the bunch.
The group left later in the afternoon, but returned in early evening.

This morning, Christmas Day, the group was still there, including
the Ross's. Before noon they all left to feed in a field that retained some
rows of standing corn just to the south of the creek -- possibly visible
from Tunis Mills Road. In early evening many of the birds returned to the
creek, but it was too dark to see the Ross's if it was present.

Last winter a single Ross's was seen near Easton amongst a large
flock of Canada Geese, but I did not notice that bird being on Leeds Creek.
Last year there was also a lone Snow Goose amongst Canada Geese in the same
general area near Easton.

Thursday morning there were several American Pipits along the
roadside of Longwoods Road north of the Easton Airport.
