You know, I pass the South River Bridge all the time. I know, well, that "lone tree" across from Dunkin Donuts. I have yet to see anything resembling a peregrine. Since I heard about the peregrine, I've traveled the 20 minutes North to the bridge several times - and I'm getting reaquainted with a powerful Dunkin' monkey on my back again for the effort - after all, one must have a REASON to drive that far, especially if you're dragging kids along at Christmastime -, but no peregrine. I'm getting cozy with the gulls and am so well acquainted with the pigeons that warm the wires near Harbor Center that I think I'll give them names. But - but - NEVER - the peregrine. SIGH.

Not only that, but I was at Herrington Harbor the day the Greater white fronted goose was spotted. I wasn't on a birding mission, but I had my scope and bins and I was ready - and even stopped and looked around a bit. I didn't see any Canadas, let alone a "special" bird.

Santa, if you read this list, please ... all I want for Christmas is .... better timing.

I don't mean to vent ... yes, yes I do!, especially to those who can understand the frustrations of missing, repeatedly, and "obvious" bird! And to those who might be amused by it, as well!

So if anyone gets "better timing" for Christmas, send it back to where it's most needed - deep in SoCo - or at least let me borrow it awhile, okay?

Smiles,

Joanne
