This afternoon at Piney Run Park where the lake is 95% frozen the birds were congregated in open water by the near shore which made many of them quite close, though the Hooded Mergansers were skittish. I did not see the entire lake and my numbers may be a little low but they were difficult to estimate in the swirling masses of birds that are crowded together. 

 Greylag Goose 1 all-white, Canada Goose 500, Tundra Swan 3, Gadwall 1, Baldpate 20, Black 

Duck 35, Mallard 105, Canvasback 9, Redhead 6, Ring-necked Duck 60, Lesser Scaup 1, Bufflehead 5, Hooded Merganser 125, Common Merganser 60, Ruddy Duck 26, Pied-billed Grebe 3, Coot 30, Ring-billed Gull 265, Herring Gull 6.
