Thanks to everyone for clarifying the location of Great Oak Pond. This is exactly where I was yesterday and where I saw the 10 Bald Eagles, so obviously there was no Sandhill Crane. This is also where the Pipits were on the right hand (north side) of the road. As you say, it doesn't look like much so I went in search of the (relatively) much larger Stavley Pond, which is on private property.
