After several unsuccessful attempts to find ANY orange-crowned warbler at Anacostia Park in D.C., I found two today in the brush/vines along the river up from the Poplar Point parking area and just before the navy cruiser. Both appeared to be imm. or 1st winter. Nearby was a huddled group of 10 field sparrows. A perched adult bald eagle was scared off by a helicopter. The ruddy ducks Steve Hersey had seen there earlier had apparently vamoosed, too.
