Hi, all -
I spent all day yesterday at the Inlet in the company of various folks throughout the day - Winger West, Dave Brenneman, the Holbrooks, David Smith, the Strobels, Walter Ellison's crew, and others whose names I didn't get.
The highlights of the day were:
Harlequin Duck - a pair off and on between 8 and 1145 AM - they were mostly seen in the Inlet itself feeding near the rocks of the south jetty
Ipswich Sparrow - Hans spotted one that landed on the sand about 25 feet from me - he got photos
Common Eider - a flock approaching 80 birds spent most of the day inside or just outside the Inlet. As far as I know, none of us were able to pull out a King
Other than that, the usual suspects: all 3 scoters, both loons, etc. No "good" gulls, no grebes, no gannets, no Great Cormorants. But an agreeable day (dry!) with congenial company.
Today is for Howard!
