Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from January 20, 2010

This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of American Wigeon, Canvasback and
Redhead, and the large numbers of Greater Scaup, Surf Scoters, Ruddy Ducks
and Dunlin. Six Short-eared Owls were also a bit of a surprise.
