I've had a Junco very similar to Sean's coming to my feeder regularly for the last week or so. It looks almost identical. I assumed it was an intergrade of some sort, and not safely identifiable to subspecies. It seems is could be within the range of J. h. hyemalis or the Northern Rocky Mtn. "broad intergrade population" previously known as J. h. cismontanus.

My girlfriend was just commenting the other day on the great range of variability of Junco colors and patterns that can be seen at any one time under ones feeder. There really needs to be more study done on these guys to sort out where population, subspecies, and species begin and end. Fun!
